Information You Provide
A name, phone number, or address entered in a search form is sent to the third-party provider that supplies the results. Our servers do not retain a copy of those searches. If you contact us, we receive the information in your message and use it to respond.
Information Collected Automatically
Like most websites, our hosting service records routine log data, such as an IP address, browser type, pages requested, and time of visit. We review this at an aggregate level to maintain the service and understand page use. Cookies or comparable tools may be used for basic analytics and, when applicable, advertising measurement.
How We Use Information
We use the limited information described above to run the site, address technical issues, measure traffic, and improve its pages. We do not sell visitor lists or create profiles of individual visitors.
Links to Other Services
Links may lead to county or state record portals, library collections, archives, and third-party search tools. The privacy practices of those services control any information submitted there, not this policy. That includes sponsored search results supplied by a third party.
When Information Is Shared
Hosting and support providers process server logs on our behalf. Analytics and advertising partners may receive the automatic information described above. We disclose information only when required by valid legal process or as otherwise described in this policy.
How Information Is Safeguarded
The site uses an encrypted connection, and logs are kept only for the purposes described here. Because visitors do not create accounts, this site does not hold a visitor password or account profile to expose.
Visitors Under 18
This site is intended for adults and is not directed to children. We do not knowingly collect personal information from a person under 18. If you believe that a minor has sent us information, contact us so it can be deleted.
Your Data Rights
Depending on where you live, you may have rights to ask for access to, correction of, or deletion of personal information a website holds about you. Because we retain very little, we can check the contact mailbox and relevant server logs and remove information we find there. Send a request through the Contact page. North Carolina does not use one universal public-records opt-out process: records held by government custodians fall under the North Carolina Public Records Act, N.C.G.S. Chapter 132, and correction or protection requests go to the responsible office. Qualifying survivors may have separate address protections through the Address Confidentiality Program under N.C.G.S. Chapter 15C; certified vital copies have separate eligibility rules under Chapter 130A, Article 4.
Policy Updates
We will post any revision to this policy here. Continued use after an update means that you accept the revised policy.
